New Mexico Flying 40 Awards 2009

The 2009 New Mexico Flying 40 awards--given to the state’s fastest-growing technology-based businesses.

New Mexico’s future is technology; and New Mexico’s future is bright. Jobs
at the Flying Forty increased from 2,238 in 2003 to more than 4354 in 2008, a 95 percent increase. Revenue increased from $442 million in 2003 to over $811 million in 2007, a 83 percent increase.

“The greater Albuquerque region, Forbes says is the single ‘best place for business and careers’ and it’s these technology-based companies that cause Forbes to rank us no. 1.  Our new technology-based economy has been born.  The Flying 40 is an example of the finest New Mexico has to offer,” said TVC President Sherman McCorkle.

The New Mexico Technology Flying 40 Program is sponsored by KPMG, LLP, New Mexico Bank & Trust, the Albuquerque Journal Business Outlook, the Science & Technology Park Development Corp. (STPDC), the Albuquerque Isotopes and Technology Ventures Corporation.

The Flying 40 2009 were recognized at an awards luncheon at the Albuquerque Isotopes on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. In addition to naming the official Flying 40 for 2009, Honorable Mentions were given to four Falcon award recipients as well as a new award category, the Hawk Award.

"The Flying 40 event is an annual opportunity to showcase the excellent progress of locally grown technology firms. The event spotlights the development of some technology companies that are not well known to the public."

-- Sherman McCorkle,   President & CEO, TVC

The Flying 40 is a selection of the top 40 revenue-generating technology companies in the state of New Mexico. The selection criteria are based on revenue and revenue growth.

We are encouraging companies to consider applying even if revenues trailed off in 2008.  In any case, we wll honor 40 companies on June 17, 2009

The New Mexico Technology Flying Forty awards annually recognize the forty fastest-growing technology companies headquartered in New Mexico. The program, now in its twelfth year, invites companies to participate in one of three categories:

1. The top revenue growth companies with revenues between $1 million and $10 million.
2. The top revenue growth companies with revenues of more than $10 million.
(Categories 1 and 2 will be calculated on the percentage of revenue growth between 2004 and 2008).
3. The top revenue-producing technology companies irrespective of revenue growth.
